SHIRLEY FARMER
(Benz) tet 24" M. Dor. (Startle X Angel's Smile) We would liken this to an updated and improved version of STARTLE. A bit smaller at 4 1/2", but far heavier, wider and more symmetrical. Plants are much like parent ANGEL'S SMILE; small, and very, very slow to establish and increase. Fully mature plants exhibit beautiful scapes and branching, and a clump in full bloom is a sight to behold. Still, this is so reticent to increase, it must be considered primarily a hybridizing tool. And, what a tool! SHIRLEY FARMER has proven an incredible parent, opening up a whole new dimension in flat, round form, heavy plastic-like substance, and best of all frilly, dripping, gold edges on reds, blacks, purples, and even sundry shades of pink and rose. A much more dominant parent for fringed edges than STARTLE itself, due to her line-bred pedigree, and one of the first SHIRLEY FARMER kids is pictured in the Daylily Encyclopedia as SHIRLEY SUPREME just one of many like it selected from this super little flower. We are pleased to be able to name this grand little daylily for one of the finest and most charming ladies we know, SHIRLEY FARMER, of Wilmington, Ohio. $100.00
