RED BOUTONNIERE

tet 34" M. Dor. [(Blood Spot x Ed Marshall) X Rajah's Ruby] From a cross of two single- flowered reds that have never bloomed full double, comes this 41/2" ruby red full peo- ny style double-rivals CHAIN REACTION as the most consistent double tetra- ploid daylily I grow. In a clump, or a lined out row of single division plants, this is always perfect, and always full double just like the picture. In the hot, dry summer of 97, I did see a few single blooms, but these were the sole aberrations in the five years I have grown this little gem. Very heavy and sunfast, with deep blue-green dormant plants and rapid increase, but a bit tall and top-branched for a bloom this size- still….attracts for than its fair share of attention, and the question most asked by visitors viewing RED BOUTONNIERE for the first time is, “Is it always that double? ” It's nice be to able to answer in the affirmative, and, just as important, every seedling we've bloomed from this, from several different unrelated parents, was double!
