(Glittering Elegance X Angel's Smile) Of the many wonderful sibs in this cross, most of which have great scapes and good lacy edges, FORBIDDEN GAMES is possessed of far and away the longest and heaviest fringe. At 51/2" this is possibly the largest of all the sibs, and most observers, viewing the 1/4" long knobs and the deep dusty coral-rose color, guess this to be from STARTLE, rather than ANGEL'S SMILE. I'd prefer a greener throat; but when you spy 40 and more of these frilly blooms astride the thick antler-branched show scapes, and the husky, arching blue- green foliage, no one seems to care. Noc- turnal, and flat-open by dawn. Fragrant, and extremely pollen fertile; pods are very difficult. Later in the season, when it becomes hot and humid, the tentacles on this can grow to 1/2" in length, and when crossed into the STARTLE line, FORBIDDEN GAMES has produced some of the most radical fringe we've encountered, and, as an added bonus, many are show- ing strange and intricate patterns, multiple watermarks etc. $150.00 (Benz)
