(Benz) tet 36" M. Dor. (Pristine Elegance X Tet. Barbara Mitchell) When making this difficult cross we were aiming for single flowered pinks with superb form and substance. So much for carefully planned crosses. This 6 1/2" double was far and away the best of the sibs. First flowers here measure 7" across, and with petals approaching 4" in diameter, the blooms appear to weigh 2 pounds each. Plants are large and robust with fine scapes and branching and a total of 22 buds. I have seen other doubles this large….but never one that combined the petal width, substance and ruffling in one massive package. Fully double about 80% of the time, but always has pollen and pistil, and is fertile both ways. We have seedlings growing from several induced pollens, and first seedlings were astounding. Wonderfully fragrant and a real attention-getter, and even from people who don't like doubles are drawn to this beauty. $150.00
