BARNEY
(Benz) tet 38" M. Dor. (Janet Benz X Imperial Decree) Our "piece-de-resistance" in the color purple! From a long cross of these 2 grand parents, BARNEY not only bloomed on the largest plant in the cross, but on 2 huge fans, with larger scapes than any of the 50 odd sibs. The day it first bloomed, BARNEY displayed 2 massive flowers nearly 7" across and to say I was excited would be an understatement! This 6 1/2 " beauty is a breakthrough in purple tets for its size, heavy ruffling, and very flat-open form. Janet named it on its maiden blooms as the intense lilac-purple color and lime-green throat reminded her of the purple dinosaur "Barney." Plants are huge with strong ramrod straight scapes, 2-3 way branching and 25 buds. Reblooms here in Ohio. Fragrant and fertile both ways. Heavily used here, and seedlings have exceeded our most ambitious expectations. Of utmost importance to the hybridizer, but a valuable addition for the display garden as well, as few daylilies draw the crowds like this one. I have been deluged with requests for an introduction date on this one, and it will sell out quickly.  $250.00
