We have introduced some with more brilliant color, or rounder, more ruffled form, but none that combine so many superlatives in one outstanding cultivar. First blooms can measure close to 7" and blooms consistently at 6' or more. This majestic deep crimson-ruby red is possibly the largest, heaviest and flattest of all our f-1 reds from induced W-29. Also has the largest and greenest throat in this line. Inherits magnificent branching from its pod-parent, and blooms are held up and out on 4-way-branched show scapes. Blooming in clump strength, displaying 30 or more of these huge side-facing blooms, this beauty has been a favorite of visiting hybridizers. A superb parent and it took several years to improve this magnificent daylily, but we are now seeing even larger green throats and brighter colors and even heavier substance. Our most spectacular red seedlings in 2004 were all seedlings from WARRIOR KING. Potent pollen and we will bloom many seedlings from this crossed to CHRISTMAS CANDY, its sibs and cousins, and even Tet. CHRISTMAS IS itself. Sets pods, but not easy.
