FRILLY ROSE GLOW

FRILLY ROSE GLOW appeared to be a runt in the seedling bed, and was only saved due to the insistence of Matthew Kaskel, who declared it to be so special it deserved a second look. Once established, it began to grow well, and although it will never be a rampant increaser, it formed a small but beautiful clump, with nice scapes and 3-way branching with bud-count around 20. Both flower and plant have improved with each passing season, and last summer, in a mature clump, this 5" beauty was absolutely dazzling. But I only realized its full potential after seeing the first seedlings last summer from FRILLY ROSE GLOW. There was every shade of rose and pink, from palest pastels to watermelon red in color, but the ruffling and intensity in this group of seedlings was a sight to behold. Another little accent is the deep carmine ruby red picotee that sometimes appears as flecks in the gold lacy filigree, and at other times completely encircles the blooms so that the ruffles appear to be outlined in a wire edge of bright red paint. Truly an exotic bloom for both the collector and the hybridizer. Fragrant and fertile both ways. $150.00
