![]() MARGARET KAISER
(Benz) tet 36" EM. Dor. [(Tet Siloam Virginia Henson x Tet. Barbara Mitchell) X sib:Silver Salute] When MARGARET KAISER bloomed, I was bowled over by not just the beauty, but the size as well. From two 41/2" sibs, came this full 6" blossom, with an even stronger scapes, and better branching than either parent. Blooms are done in a beautiful shade of pastel rose-pink, with a deep rose-red band around a green throat. Petals are enhanced by a small, but pronounced knobby red edge in rose-red to match the eye. My dear friend Margaret Kaiser had initially selected a sib to SILVER SALUTE and TOMBOY to be her namesake. It was the heaviest and most nocturnal of the sibs and sported a small red and gold beaded edge. When she saw the new seedling, she immediately requested a name change! Little wonder, as the new MARGARET KAISER is reminiscent of the old one (its pod-parent), only 2" larger and with improved color and a more pronounced edge. MARGARET KAISER is the largest and most powerful grower of any eyed variety we have introduced, with the possible exception of GYPSY CARAVAN. Huge, thick scapes sport 3-4 lateral branches and a terminal cluster, with a total of 30 or more blooms. Only pollen fertile in full sun. Extremely fragrant and a consistent re-bloomer. $100.00
